Almost a week on, I am still shocked that the Circle line no longer goes in a circle. It is an atrocity! I really can't believe that dear old Boris would agree to such a ridiculous idea. I think he must've been drunk/drugged/bribed. The "Circle" line now spirals out from Edgware Road to Hammersmith. Thus, it ought to be called the "Spiral" line. Gosh, think how much more confused those poor tourists will now be! The homeless can no longer while away their day by sitting on the Circle line, endlessly going round and round. It must've been a sad day for London. I wasn't even there to take part in the sadness - I only found out weeks later apparently!
Here are some yellow flowers. Since the Circle line is no longer a circle, I don't think it should be yellow any more either - that's just far too confusing! I would suggest rainbow colour for this new, slightly wrong, line.

Gini
My fish, admittedly, don't have names. We have too many, and they die too quickly. But anyway, I took Henry to play with the fish today. The one pictured below I think should be called Gini. Today in economics we went over the Gini coefficient - a measure of income distribution equality (or most likely, inequality) of a country. I think my fish represent this rather well. In terms of mass, and let's face it, importance, us human beans are much more significant than them. However, especially in the Winter months, they always have a very warm environment to swim around in and enjoy. They never run out of food, and they even have a regular cleaner (my sister) who visits. If only that could be said for our actual home! In Winter, because no one is at home, our house is usually freezing. We quite often run out of (edible) food, and the concept of tidying up is completely non-existent. There is severe inequality in this household. Those tropical fish do nothing to contribute, yet get all the luxuries they could ever dream of.

Failbright
Had my Fulbright interview today. Was pretty Chengfail, and very awkward, but I'm just so glad it's over. The interviewers were really nice, so was the receptionist... It kinda reminded me of my Newcastle interview for some reason.
Anyway, for the first time (perhaps ever?...), I went to London in the morning and didn't go touristing. I went for a short walk after my interview, trying to decide whether to go with my urge to go snap happy. However, sensible-ness took over and I ended up going straight home so that I could still go in for an afternoon of school. In total, I took 7 buses today, which means I've probably spent at least an hour of my day waiting for public transport! I definitely need to get my provisional license sorted.
Haha I said to my Mother today, "Yay that I finally have no more interviews!". She replied, "Aren't you going to look for a job then?"
*Sigh*
I guess that's my next "to do", after sorting out provisional. Oh but wait, I need a job first before I can pay for my provisional? Ah damn... I wonder how long it's actually humanly possible to delay applying for a provisional... I remember planning to do it just before my 17th birthday so I could have it for when I turned 17. I've somehow just always been too busy to do it... Chengfail.

Mr Violin
Last night was awful. I felt exhausted all day. My headache didn't go away. My tummy ache came back. I will stop whinging, evenutally.
Mr Violin (my violin) has finally found his new sidekick. I've yet to figure out his name... His old counterpart didn't have a name either - unfortunately he retired before the opportunity even came. His early retirement was mainly due to a broken leg, and a dodgy surgeon, whose only tool was sellotape.

Fiendish, Diabolical, Impossible - is how I would describe economic. Was almost caught sleeping with my eyes open half way through the THIRD economics lesson today - Mr Bright asked to explain something, but I had no clue what the class was actually talking about...
Four chemistry lessons today, and then orchestra in the evening. I have no idea how I stayed awake all day.
I sharpened my pencils today for the first time since September! Hurray!

Meet Miike!
Cycled to town today on Miike. With only 3 gears, 2 tiny wheels, 1 working brake and 0 suspension, I actually thought he did quite well! So, I started trying to fix him up today - need to de-rustify, fix brakes, oil, and add some safety stuff. It's going slow, but I have time. If I flop my interview next Wednesday, I'll have all Summer to work on him.
Today was the last ever staff non-contact day - teachers are moderating coursework today, which means that my Mother is also. Thus, I've barely spoken to her at all these last few days. My Mother is extraordinarily dedicated. Yay for her pupils, not so yay for her children.
Here is Miike:

NMR
Never Make Racistjokes, especially in Physics!
Started NMR today in Chemistry - I still remember asking Kevin to explain it all to me as we were walking through town when we were in Cambridge in December. I also asked him about the pH scale. He told me it was very unlikely that they'd actually ask me to make calculations, so explained to me the basic principles but not the actual equation. Amazingly, in my interview, I was asked exactly what the pH equation was, and was also required to use it. NMR wasn't mentioned at all. I don't know if I was lucky or unlucky that day!
Here is a distribution of girls in what is left of our school 'field'. If they were modeled as gas molecules in a closed system, and the system carried out work in order for an adiabatic expansion, calculate ΔU, ΔQ and ΔW.

Mamma Mia!
Today, I did everything my Mother is 'supposed', or 'expected' to do. I don't know how she does it - after I'd done all the jobs, I literally fell straight asleep on the couch and slept without disturbance until now.
Maybe it's because I had to take the bus everywhere... Must learn to drive soon... Must get a provisional license! I've put off getting one for over a year now. Maybe that's because I'll miss this bus stop too much:

Frühlingswaltzer
Had triple physics, nothing else today. The ideal gas is not so ideal. Our brains have reached their full capacitance.
It feels like I haven't played with Henry in ages - ever since school started, it's only been Percy.
Teaching piano today after school, then I have my own piano and violin lesson after that. I haven't practiced! Hopefully I will be taking my exam this Summer.
My three pieces are:
Mozart, Andante (2nd movt from Sonata in Bb, K454. No. 13)
Lalo, Andante (4th movt from Symphonie Espagnole, Op 21)
Shostakovich, Frühlingswaltzer (No. 6 from Albumstücke)
Now all I need to do is start practicing... But first must come procrastination, of course:
Yes, that's right, the '7' key on my keyboard is missing. Maybe I'll make a wanted poster... Reward will be the lucky '8' key.

God of War
Mr Smith, orchestra conductor, really is pro at dragging out Mars from Holst's Planets Suite. Also, counting up to five is ridiculously difficult after a day of brain-feeding at school.
Today Daniel asked me if I wanted to be on top or on the bottom...
*嘻嘻* ...Gosh, I am just so mature.
I did some vote thingy today seeing as it's nearing the election now. My results were as follows:
I think it's pretty accurate actually, considering what I was saying earlier on today (bar UKIP, BNP and Green, kind of...).
Today was our last ever chemistry practical as a whole class. Even though all of us are going on to do science related degrees, it was still a pretty sad moment for us all:

Mass
This is last night's dream:
We (my form, 13A) were on a school retreat. We took the 248 bus from the bus stop outside St Lawrence Church, and got off at the next stop (Boundary Road). That took hours, because it was in Italy. The bus also turned into the Nightbus from Harry Potter. We were supposed to go inside the Church for a mass, but I decided to linger outside to take some photos of the cliffs and city lights. I was thus late for the mass and they had already started. For some reason, everyone had to wear white robes, but since I was late in, there were none left for me. I was given a green one instead. Then, Miss Holden, my form tutor, pointed out that since I'm not Catholic, I don't need to wear one at all. Up at the front was Sacred Heart Jazz Band playing Pachelbel's Canon. Near the back was a family friend, who we honestly rarely speak to, and she was playing a red guitar. (As far as I'm aware, she doesn't play any instruments.) After they finished playing, she came down and said she urgently need to speak to me. So, we went to the kitchen and she asked me how I was, how my family was etc etc. She then said that I hadn't been to her house in ages, so invited me to go round that evening. I said no, because the mass will finish late, and we have a long day ahead, and I need to ask my Mother. She somehow convinced me and suddenly I was there in her house. She said to me, "Will you come and talk with me in the garden? My husband doesn't like me going there, which is why he never does work on the garden." I thought ok, why not. We went outside, but it was SO muddy! There were two chairs, but they were very muddy as well. Behind the chairs there was a fence, and behind the fence, there was an American girl. She got on a horse and started riding. I watched... Then I saw down below, there were like 40 horses all cantering up and down this stretch of field.
I think this concludes, my mind is a little bit messed up. I haven't dreamed in months. I've always been too tired to dream.

We are all dust and shadow ~ Horace
Today I received my offer from Stephenson College, Durham University for medicine. - Pretty efficient, considering I put them as insurance on Thursday, they received my application yesterday, and sent out the offer today. (This is all due to being rejected by Newcastle!)
Firm was of course Gonville & Caius, Cambridge University. Indeed, I'm still miffed about my rejections from Manchester and Glasgow, but never mind - I am so grateful for the two offeres I do have!
I felt awful for declining UCL - chemical engineering - great course at a great uni (and most importantly, not too far up North!)
Today I also went to my parent's allotment. Henry and I had great fun there. My dad likes to ruin it though by constantly saying I'm rubbish at everything. I already know that - he really doesn't need to remind me several times, every day. Most days it's ok. Some days, it really gets to me.
This is in the antique/collectables shop in Upminster. I don't think Henry and I were actually allowed to take any photos inside!

Final Friday
Last day of Easter Holidays, and I spent most of it asleep. A pretty horrible headache has decided to visit me. I blame it on having to sleep on the couch. (Sleeping downstairs means that it is pretty inevitable that I will get up at round 2am to do some school work, which is exactly what I've done these past two nights.)
Anyway, my sister's new room is pretty much done now. It's yellow and pink (she chose the colours), she has a double bed, and she has a pretty big TV. No, I'm not jealous (I'm rather happy with my white box room, and I don't watch TV anyway), but I just think it's a little bit ridiculous - she's only like 10...
Never mind. Hannah plants the tulips, and I take photos of them. I guess that's how it'll always work.

Strawberry Shortcake
After it's been redecorated, my parents' room will become my sister's. My parents will have my room, and I will move back into the box room. My sister decided to paint her new room pink and yellow - reminds me of strawberry shortcake. Also, after spending a whole day in a lot of paint, I started to feel like I could actually smell the strawberry shortcake...
Tonight I was supposed to go to Kerry and Cat's 18th. Instead I stayed at home and watched the election debate. FML.

Random Variable
My mood, like many other things, seem to vary quite randomly. Does it follow a 'normal' distribution? No. What is 'normal'? Nothing.
My parents' room is currently being redecorated, so they will be sleeping in my room. (I usually sleep on a double bed!)
Thus, for the next few nights, I shall have the luxury of sleeping on the couch downstairs. I don't mind though - it means I can get more work done.
I worked out I only have about 22 weeks at home before I move out for uni. Also, that would be reduced by 5 if I am successful in my interview which is in two weeks' time. I know it's mean, but I am so looking forward to moving out.
Is it nearly Summer yet?

Scherbert
This is going to sound weird, but when I was on the bus the other day, I noticed that the woman next to me was wearing a perfume that was remarkably similar to that of my first piano teacher, who passed away almost four years ago now. I miss her terribly, but we have to move on I guess.
Ooh, today I received news that I am one of 23 people invited for an interview for the Summer course I applied for. There are 10 places, so it's actually looking pretty good. Need to do lots of work to prepare for this interview though.
This photo was taken at my piano/violin lesson today. Scherbert + Mozart ftw

Pic-vision-ing
Shiran, Layla and I tried to revise economics round Shiran's house today. Didn't quite work seeing as it's the subject worth least to all three of us. Shiran is an amazing host though, and her family are so cool!
Layla had her head guillotined, and I had my hand chopped off.
Afterwards, Layla and I went to Upminster Park for a picnic. I think the dogs ate more than we did...
It was a really great idea of Katrina's, only the weather was a little bit cold.

Pro-pan-ing
When stuck in some awful traffic on the A127 today, I tried some panning with Henry. It actually went decently well, especially as it was a first time for both of us. If we ever improve on our technique, I'll post a picture here.
Today, we had a late lunch. After lunch, I started reading my chemistry textbook. After reading approximately half a page, I fell asleep. After about three hours, I woke up to have dinner. This is ultimate Chengfail.
Anyway, during the super boring car journey this morning, Henry tried out my shades. I think he actually quite suits them:

The "one-hundred and one-th" day of 2010, and I spent pretty much all of it asleep (stayed in bed until 4pm).
I feel awful - a whole day has pretty much been wasted. For the last 3.5 hours I've been awake, all I've done is procrastination.
Anyway, something productive - I learnt about the different moods Henry can have. Then, I took him out to play in the garden :

I ♥ LDN
Went to Billingsgate Market for the first time ever this morning - left the house at 4am I think, and we got back at 7am. It was so cool - reminded me of the food markets in China.
After we got home, I slept for about an hour or so, and then we left home for a day out in London. In the morning, we went round Greenwich and did pretty much all the tourist-y things possible. Ah, I saw an old "Panorama Camera" at Greenwich Market for £3. I was so, so tempted to buy it, even though I know I would barely ever use it.
We then went to the British Museum - nothing that we hadn't seen before. It was nice to visit there again though.
Then we took the bus to Leicester Square, and as requested by my sister, we had dinner at Wong Kei. I think at long last, I am finally bored of eating there now.
Afterwards, we did some grocery shopping in the Chinese supermarkets in Chinatown, and to finish the day, we went by the river to take some more photos.
I am exhausted - today has been such a long day, especially after only two hours' sleep. Henry had great fun though:
Ooh, also, there seemed to be far more "Oxford University" hoodies being worn/sold than "Cambridge University" hoodies. I personally think that ought to change... ...

Dye Chem, Dye
Whole day of chem revision in school today. That was just wonderful... Well, the lunch part of that was - as a chemistry class, we took our annual trip to Upminster Café, which has only been open for two years, and we've been twice so far.
Today, my Mother annoyed me, a lot. If I ever miss just one call from her, I get yelled at and have both my parents ignore me for about a week because I'm behaving selfishly. However, it's apparently fine, and somewhat funny, for her to miss about 15 calls from me. That happened today, and consequently, I got annoyed.
This is from when I was wondering around Upminster looking for my Mother and my sister:

Expecto Patronum
Watching HP3 for the billionth time.
This morning, I finally did something different - I went to the dentist. It was an awful experience - the receptionists, even though they'd only just had through a serious complaint on the phone, thought it would be cool to have a laugh about my name. Not only do they laugh at it, they also managed to read it incorrectly and call me "Ching". I don't understand that - no one ever reads "Henry" as "Hinry". They're the same length words, same number of vowels, same number of consonants - what's the problem?
These are my sister's pretty shoes. As usual, worn only a few times, but already too small:

Went food shopping today for tomorrow's nom-ing supplies. That wasn't exactly a pleasant experience...
I also asked my sister to tidy up her stuff around the house. This is pretty strange - I can actually see floor/table/desk - there isn't just 'stuff' protecting all the surfaces. Anyway, friendly people are coming round tomorrow and I thought it wouldn't be too good if we had poster paints and crayons all over the floor.

Happy Easter
I haven't gone to church in ages.
Today, for breakfast, I ate at Pizza Express. I seriously need to stop eating out. Anyway, this was like a slightly late mini-celebration with my family for my birthday. The reason it was my birthday was because I fail at getting up in the mornings. I can't find any motivation any more.
Henry enjoyed the meal also:

Epic Touristing
None of the tubes seemed to work today, so I decided that I would have a wander around London by foot (wearing heels) from Fenchurch Street.
Here is a list of the tourist-y places I visited:
Tower Bridge
White Tower
London Bridge
Southwark Bridge
Shakespeare's Globe Theatre
Tate Modern
Millenium Bridge
Somerset House
Some more bridges
London Eye
Houses of Parliament
Downing Street
Horse Guards
The Mall
Buckingham Palace
Trafalgar Square
National Gallery
Leicester Square

April Fail's Day
To be fair, today wasn't that fail. Half day today - two weeks off school! Hurray! I spent my whole afternoon tidying my 'workspace', and yay - I finally have some space to play piano!
Wasn't able to go to Yo! Sushi! because I am out of moneys. Also, I don't understand what this whole hype about clubbing is. Personally, I don't really see the attraction of Romford and Rohypnol.
