Censorship

I'm leaving for China today! Well, Hong Kong to be precise. Still not recovered from Americaland, still tired, still coughing, but I'm still really excited. My Dad has absolutely no faith in me. Meh.
I may be taking a break from blogging, basically depending on how much internet access I have. I'm pretty sure Facebook is completely blocked due to censorship. Never mind...

Newbie

My parents bought the Romford Recorder for possibly the first time ever, after six years of living in this area. Inside, there was an article about A level grades, and for some very strange reason, my name was even in the headline! It was pretty cool though, even though it was a somewhat dodgy article. - A little too many assumptions and inaccuracies in my opinion.
Today my parents gave me one of their old cameras - so for me, a new camera. I'm really quite excited about it - it's a Seagull DF-1. So non-digital, it doesn't even run on batteries. I can't wait to try it out! It's getting old now though - not sure how old, but older than me definitely, so needs a little t.l.c.

Cough.

My parents took me to the outlet mall today, where I felt very ill. Later in the evening, we had dinner at Pizza Express, where I didn't feel much better. Hopefully I'll feel better by Sunday...

Stars

A levels are finally over. I'm pretty happy with my results. I did worst on Maths, which I didn't really expect.
My cough really just needs to go away, really.
I bought a violin case in Americaland. I left it on the train home. We got a call today to say that it was found, so drove down to Westcliff. Westcliff is kind of by the sea, more by the Thames.

Snell

Starting to read Snell's Clinical Anatomy by Regions. I couldn't help but fall asleep during the day again. Not good for jetlag, nor for a really bad cough either. I'm just glad I'm ill now, and not in the US or hopefully in China. I went out for a walk with my sister and then it started to rain. Very much back to England, which to be honest, sucks. My sister suggested we have a barbeque tomorrow, and I couldn't help but laugh - it's ridiculously cold here! Also, tomorrow is judgment day, i.e. not appropriate for barbeque. It'll be a judgment of all my efforts these last two years. A level results, ahoy there! I haven't actually panicked yet this year. The 5-weeks in the States worked wonders in taking my mind off it. Plus, exhaustion means that I'll probably over-sleep tomorrow morning and so not think about it then either. These last few days, I've managed to sleep past 1.30pm every morning. A miracle will have to happen if I intend to take the 10.20 bus with Rebecca tomorrow morning. Anyway, a promise is a promise, so regardless how conscious I am, I guess I'll just have to drag myself out of bed (or the sofa, as it has been recently...)
Hannah's been growing sunflowers. I really do wonder what she actually feeds them...

Circus

After sleeping in lots and lots and lots, I went with my Mother to pick up Hannah from some circus course thing.

Au revoir, mes amis!

Five weeks ago seems like only a couple of days to me. A couple of magical days which have been crammed so full of activities, the space-time continuum sighed and changed our perspective on time completely. Flight is today, suitcase is packed-ish, and everything is over!
Photos will be here, eventually...

Late Dept

We were late for the State Department visit because some people slept in by accident. I think that sums up how this programme has affected us pretty well - exhausted. Packing is awful, but dinner was really nice, and afterwards we went for a walk around the memorials. It's all over tomorrow... Wow.

DC

Direct Current... I miss physics.
Today we left Philadelphia for Washington D.C. The tour was really cool, and at last we met the students at Bentley University today. We had our last meal together as a group in a really random Middle Eastern-ish restaurant, but it was a good evening.
We're still working on our presentation for the Department of State which will be given tomorrow morning. Uh oh...

Final Reception

Today was really the end of yet another era. At the final reception, we presented our posters. Stressful, especially when people go AWOL. Never mind - as 'outstanding' leaders, no one died.
Tonight we went down to Center City for the last time ever. Goodbye, Philly! - Last night at Millennium Hall!

Meetingz

Last day of classes - how sad! Afterwards, I went shoppingz. In the evening, we had like 3 hours of meetings. Groupwork sucks.

Soccer

Tonight I went along to support the guys and girl (Julie!) at the Fulbright soccer match. The European Student Leaders won 5-2! Hurray!

Messy

My blog is so messed up! I missed Friday, and the times are wrong because of the time difference. I should've changed the time zone, I know.
Anyway, on Friday I ate at a really cool sushi and seafood buffet. Yay for good seafood!

Crabbing

This morning I got up at 4.30 to go crab fishing. In the evening, I ate Szechuan food. Wow.

Chopin

First decent night's sleep in 4 weeks. Hurray!
I went chopin in the outlet mall today. The US economy has received yet another fiscal stimulus from the Purse of Cheng.

CVS

Totally exhausted. Sorted out everything for New York this weekend though. Plenty of work to do, as always.

Woody's

This morning I went to the largest Masonic Temple in America. Or maybe second largest. Anyway, not so secret here it seems - there were huge signs outside. Really strange place. Not quite figured it out yet.

Reception

Our second reception here. It was really weird. I think that's how best to describe it. This whole day has been weird.
Classes are just oh so interesting:

03 August, 2010

Soloist

Today we went to Philadelphia's Free Library. People do degrees in Library Services here. Meh.
Later in the evening, a small group of us went to the Prince Music Theatre to see a special screening of The Soloist. For me, the film was more emotive than the book, but I think I still preferred the book.

Trolley

I had a Subway sandwich for breakfast today. I really don't know how I can still fit into my clothes. Today we went to Ben's BBQ. Plenty of mosquitoes, but otherwise, we all had a really good time. Afterwards, I went with a few people to see A Midsummer Night's Dream. It was really good. Only one criticism though - it started off with a pretty decent British accent, however, that soon deteriorated in quite an awful American-Shakespearean voice, which was really quite off-putting.
Oh, today, I also took the Trolley for the first time ever!
It's gonna be a long night tonight...

Hodie, veni ad marum et habeo multo tempo libero. erat una bona dies. amo Fulbright discipulos.
