My Fulbright books finally arrived! The box came in a sack, which we then used to do sack races down the corridor. Finished two essays today. Ugh...

Moobs
Good day, in terms of getting work done. Caius medsoc pub crawl tonight, themed "When medicine goes wrong..." but didn't go. JT (FYM) borrowed something of mine though:

27
Today, my day started at 8am, and finished at 8.30pm. Within that, I had 7 hours contact time, with various lectures and supervisions etc. I also calculated today that this week, I have a total of 27 contact hours. Not much need for comparison really.
Anyway, it went much better than I anticipated, but now I just wish I have more time to prepare for tomorrow's grueling. Another essay was set today. Hurray!
I can't wait for bed.
This is my very messy desk, after 3 hours of work:

PfP
Met my first patient today! Preparing for Patients was actually quite fun. It's a shame we only do this twice a year.
Spent most of tonight panicking about tomorrow. If I survive tomorrow, I will blog about it then.
Here is the law library, which the SHB is right next to:

PBL
Cambridge's take on PBL was pretty much how I expected - work in groups on very scientific presentation, not assessed.
Was very efficient today - learnt all the bones and muscles in the lower limb in about two hours. (Upper limb has taken me more than three weeks... Still a working process...)
I went to the photography gallery at the Guildhall today. Very pretty photos, mainly of Cambridge and London actually.

Today
My family came today! I gave them a mini tour of Cambridge, and they gave me lots of food. My Dad also somehow fixed my charger for me. Sello-taped, so volatile, but at least functioning.
23rd
On the 23rd, I went lion dancing in the morning, and Chinese orchestra in the afternoon. My legs still hurt from the dancing, and my ears still hurt from the screeching noises made during orchestra.
21st
On the 21st, I had a supervision that lasted 1 hour 45 minutes. (It's supposed to be 1 hour.) That was pretty painful.

Buffday
Possibly the 'easiest' day I will ever have here. Tried to have a lie-in this morning, but that was just beyond fail. One lecture, one supervision, and then dinner. Afterwards, went to the bar for Jonathon's buffday:
Wagamama
After a whole 3 hours of sleep, I got up at 8am to go to choir this morning. And then it was brunch. And then I played violin. And then I went for a little trip into town with Luxi and Chris. And then I wrote up my diabetes essay. And then I went out to Wagamama's for dinner. And then I went for an awkward violin audition with Ruby. And then I tried to learn anatomy. And then I was very very tired. And now I can't believe what time it is already.

Hall
Lecture, dissection, lecture, supervision, hall.
Oh, and then an attempt to go to the ballet meet at Ta Bouche, but that didn't really work out.
Hall food actually hasn't been that bad. I think it's because we just had such bad expectations. Though, the desert today did actually make me gag a little...

Statistics
Woke up really quite early this morning. At 8.30, I laid on my bed, and accidentally fell asleep. I then woke up at 8.52. Crappppppppppp. It took me 14mins to get to the lecture theatre, so I was 6mins late. As a result, I had to sit on the floor at the back of the Babbage Lecture Theatre. Urghhhhhhhhhhh.
Statistics lecture was as pointless as Statistics at school, if not more so. "Lies, damned lies, and statistics lectures."
Third lecture at first felt like it would never end, but quite miraculously, it actually improved towards the latter half.
Supervision today was better than yesterday's. Hurray!

Lion Dancing
After a very long morning of lectures, and a very patronising supervision in the afternoon, I tried out lion dancing in the evening. It's actually really quite fun...

Schindler's Lift
Histology today was actually quite fun. Yay for cell biology! Yay for biology in general! After histology, we had a MIMS lecture which was really good too. The lecturer is actually jokes. Worked, as usual, in the afternoon. Departed with £1000 today. Oh, drinks with the Master of the college today, and then I went to formal hall. More studying after dinner. Lots more studying now when I really should be sleeping.

Punting
Woke up super early this morning, did laundry, then went to choir practice and the morning service. Haha I felt like such a good atheist. In the afternoon, I went punting, which was really really fun. Evening has been full of studying and reading and being confused.
Yesterday
I wasn't able to blog yesterday due to many reasons...
I went for an audition at St John's in the morning - their grounds are enormous! Caius is very nice too. I guess each college has its own advantages and disadvantages. Oh yeah, signed up for rowing yesterday too. I signed up to lots of things actually. But whether or not I'll have time for any of them, I don't know.
Family night last night, at my dad's place. Yeah...

St Mike's
9am lecture, meeting with supervisor at noon, free afternoon (spent writing an essay and doing homework), small gathering at St Mike's in the evening, and finally revision session at midnight. I never thought that ancient copy of Gray's Anatomy we have would actually one day become useful:

Dissection
Dissection was amazing. We dissected the arm of a 77 year old man. It was pretty weird to see a dead body, and then cut him open, but luckily we had a really good guy, with very nice veins. Oh, no blogging yesterday as the whole university's internet was apparently down. But it's better today. Ahh I have so much work to catch up with already.

FAB
The Cambridge medical course is possibly the coolest thing ever. However, it's also the busiest thing ever too. We had lectures pretty much all day. Bought my dissection kit today! So excited about dissection tomorrow morning. Caius Jazz in the evening - totally immense.
Need. To. Read.
Oh, did a little touristing today:

Poke
This morning, very early on, I had an awful experience with Occupational Health and their needles. My veins were very shy, and so my skin got quite a good stabbing. The Freshers' fair was immense. I think I will be receiving 'too much junk' for life now. Nevertheless, it was fun, and full of freebies!
Later, I went to the Caius freshers fair, which was admittedly somewhat less impressive, but cool all the same. Following this, I registered with the GP, sorted out Student Finance, and then met for an introductory supervision with one of my supervisors.

Matriculation
Being a tourist attraction, early morning, is not too fun. We dressed up in our 'cloaks' and had our matriculation photo taken. That was basically standing/queuing in the rain for about 3 hours. Afterwards we matriculated. Woohoo! In the afternoon, I had a meeting with both my tutor and my Director of Studies, and then drinks with the medical supervisors, and then my first formal hall. Candlelit dinner, with Stephen Hawking. More woohoo!

G&C
College family brunch this morning, oh and also met my next door neighbour. Last night was really cool, and tonight was great too. Dinner wasn't as bad as I was expecting, oh and I bought my gown today. So much to do!!!

University
I'm leaving for Cambridge today. Uh oh... I think I'm all packed-ish. Not everything will fit in the car. Ahh I guess they'll just have to leave me out. Um, internet in my room will take a little while to sort out, if sort out-able, hence early blog. I'm one step closer to epic failure. Great.
I miss home already.

Pack!
This morning, I got up at 11am. After packing for 2 hours, I got tired again and slept at at 1pm. The bags under my eyes come back to visit. Um, I'm absolutely petrified about going to university.
Conversation with Layl:
Cheng: "Omg... We're going to university tomorrow. Wtf..."
Layl: "Oh shit"
I hope she doesn't sue me for copyright infringement by posting this!
I think I'm pretty much all packed. I will miss my room though, and my mini-collection of books, which no longer fits on these shelves anyway. Recommended reads from my "library" ~
Non-fiction: "First Book of Science"
Fiction: Oh dear... "Harry Potter(s)" are my only fiction books on these shelves. Unless you count the "Holy Bible"?

*Please don't smite me... Not just yet anyway!*
Anyway, enough rambling. I've got some serious growing up to do.
