Started NMR today in Chemistry - I still remember asking Kevin to explain it all to me as we were walking through town when we were in Cambridge in December. I also asked him about the pH scale. He told me it was very unlikely that they'd actually ask me to make calculations, so explained to me the basic principles but not the actual equation. Amazingly, in my interview, I was asked exactly what the pH equation was, and was also required to use it. NMR wasn't mentioned at all. I don't know if I was lucky or unlucky that day!
Here is a distribution of girls in what is left of our school 'field'. If they were modeled as gas molecules in a closed system, and the system carried out work in order for an adiabatic expansion, calculate ΔU, ΔQ and ΔW.
