I did roughly a billion runs of that stupid faildine clock reaction today and I am finally finished! Four weeks of burette-ing, pipette-ing, boiling tube-ing, test tube-ing, water bath-ing, ice bath-ing, stop clock-ing, wash-ing and failing are finally finished. I am so glad to say that I will never ever have to wait for a blue-black/orange/fail colour to appear ever again.
I looked at my results today after school today and they were awful. I will need to do some 'fiddling', as all good chemists do.
I think this picture kind of looks like my faildine clock - blue-black, and orange. (The orange is the major fail bit. I couldn't use starch as an indicator because it turned the solution blue-black before I even added the reagent! So I had to make do without it, and observe a yellow to orange colour change which isn't exactly convenient...)
